Qualified from the Dublin Institute of Technology in 1979. Architectural and landscape experience in Germany and Canada prior to joining the Office of Public Works. Past work includes the original Killykeen Forest Park Development in native timber and various award winning visitor and cultural facilities throughout the country. Present work involves the implementation of the architectural master plan for the National Botanic Gardens including all new educational, visitor, library, herbarium, office and service facilities, and the restoration of historic glasshouses and buildings. Architectural, landscape and planning advisor to the National Waterways Service. Architect for various new build, landscape and restoration projects for the Historic Properties and Wildlife Services of Duchas and OPW. Architect for the European Food and Veterinary headquarters at Grange, Co. Meath, the Backweston Laboratory Campus master plan including the State Laboratory and Conference Centre; the Marine Institute Headquarters, Galway; and the Galway Civic Museum. Projects in progress include the Children’s Science Museum, a new Police Head Quarters for Dublin and a variety of restoration and landscape schemes.

Awards and exhibitions include the Architectural Association of Ireland 1986, 1992, 1994 and 1998. The Royal Institute of Architects Triennial Housing Award 1984 - 1986; the R.I.A.I. Regional Awards 1993, 1994, 1995, 1998 and 2001. Represented Ireland in the European Union of Architects Exhibition in Paris 1986. Awarded the All Ireland Landscape Award 1990. Dublin Living City Award 1995. Construction Industry Excellence Award 1995. Henry Ford Foundation Conservation Award 1996. Imaginaire Irlandais, Paris 1996. Europa Nostra Gold Medal, Madrid 1997. The Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland Triennial Restoration Medal 2001.
