BACKGROUNDMr. John Kelly is the founder and director of the world renowned John Kelly Furniture & Accessories. Distinguished by his unique approach to design, he has been described as the Frank Lloyd Wright of furniture design.Architecturally trained, Mr. Kelly graduated in 1989 from the University of Pennsylvania with a Master degree in Architecture. Following graduation, Mr. Kelly worked for Ellerbe- Becket Architects in New York. A year later, he co-founded Maxwell & Kelly Furniture in Philadelphia where he was Director in charge of the product development, design and manufacture of custom furnishing and millwork for residential, commercial and contract interiors. 1994 saw Mr. Kelly return to New York as John Kelly Furniture & Accessories was established. Truly passionate about his trade, he directs international distribution in Europe, North American and Asia and overseas most aspects of the business. In recognition of his outstanding designs, Mr. Kelly has won a string of awards, the most recent being Furniture Show/Cabinet Maker Magazine 2004 Award of Excellence,United Kingdom. He was awarded the Pinnacle Award by the American Society of Furniture Designers, High Point, USA in 1999 and 2000. In 1998, he won the Award of Excellence for Best of Show at the International Furniture Fair, Singapore. Mr. Kelly's versatility has also won him several other prestigious awards, illustrating his authority on furniture design.
