BACKGROUNDDr. Denig has extensive experience in increasing the profitability of primary wood products manufacturing, from providing guidance on management issues, quality control, technical aspects of manufacturing and planning and execution of capital projects to expanding expertise in lumber manufacturing, from log breakdown to lumber drying. After earning his Ph.D from Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University, Dr. Denig worked as an inventory forester for George Banzhaf & Co.. He then accepted an assistant professorship at the Department of Forestry in Southern Illinois University.Following this appointment, he worked as Vice President and General Manager of Ligna Machinery in North Carolina, and then joined North Carolina State University as a professor and wood products extension specialist in 1983. He has published numerous articles on lumber processing and drying, and has conducted consulting projects on efficient wood processing and sawmilling for companies throughout the U.S., South Africa and Chile |
